Uphill Batttle this 4th of July 2011 Run
Sometimes it doesn’t seem to matter what you do… Murphy’s law will kick in.. I had to turn a couple good ones out due to a groin injury, glad that’s over… feelin good again now!
This first week in July was a hctic week, where the good ones were a little off and Justin and I both drew some colts that we couldn’t even get out on!
Then we got up in a plane that circled the mountain between Red Lodge & Livingston MT. After running into storm clouds we had to turn back a 700 plane ride that didn’t go anywhere.
Hahaha!!!
All in all it was a rough week with not much profits, Justin made the Short round at Greeley and had some success, I placed at Oakley & Red Lodge!!
Best thing about rodeo is I’ve got another one tonight!!

Hobbies include riding colts, fishing and taking naps … Grew up on an Oklahoma ranch and got interested in rodeo after watching Bruce Ford on TV … Fennell got on practice horses just about every day and he started competing in rodeo in 1990. He went to college on a rodeo scholarship and rode bulls, but at the end of college he was pretty much done with bull riding … In 2005, he thought about giving up rodeo until a then-rookie talked him into buying his card again. Justin McDaniel, the rookie, encouraged him to continue and the two began traveling together. McDaniel went on to win the Rookie of the Year award in 2005 and the World Championship in 2008 … When not competing, D.V. works in construction building log homes; he built his own two-story home from scratch … His father, Dudley, is a cowboy and his mother and stepdad, Judi and Don Barrett, of Idabel, Oklahoma are ranchers…Favorite rodeo is San Angelo, Texas, because he has won good checks there in the past. Favorite type of food is Mexican, favorite book is the Bible, favorite movie is Gladiator, and favorite type of music is Christian contemporary … Graduated from Idabel, Oklahoma. His rodeo role models are 1998 Bareback Riding World Champion Mark Gomes and 2000 Bareback Riding World Champion Jeff Collins, with whom he rodeoed early in his career…Maintains own Web site at dvfennell.wordpress.com … Appeared on Cowboys of Faith DVD … When he qualified for the 2009 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo he was the first Missouri resident to make the NFR field since bull rider Lyle Sankey in 1980.
